Career FairNursing Career Fairs are an excellent way to network with nurses and hospitals throughout the country. Here are some tips for preparing your resume, making a great impression and inquiring about facilities. 1. Update your resume and bring plenty of copies. Even if you just started your current job six months ago, you’ll want to take a look at your resume to make sure it reflects all of your employment history and skills. Be sure to update your references too. Highlight yourself well by adding in any extra education courses or mentoring programs. Also, have someone proofread it for errors. 2. Introduce yourself. Be bold at the career fairs and talk to as many people as you can. Remember, they want to meet you just as much as you want to meet them. As a qualified and able nursing professional, you are exactly what healthcare facilities are looking for. 3. Know who will be attending the career fair. You’ll want to research the different facilities featured at the fair. It will impress the employers that you know about their organization, plus you’ll have insightful questions to ask since you already know the basic information. 4. Be sure to follow up with all possible employers. Take the business cards you collected during the career fair and make the effort to follow up with each one. It’ll show you’re serious about furthering your nursing career, and the employers will appreciate it.
